Body Blitz
What is Body Blitz I hear you ask?
Body Blitz is a resistance band and body weight exercise workout that uses giant ‘mega bands’ and your own body weight to work out.
Resistance bands offer lots of variety in your training and they’re a versatile piece of equipment and can go anywhere with you.
I always take them away with me and have even took them abroad!! Honestly I’m not even kidding now - for some reason I always seem to get checked at the airport. I must have one of those faces! It’s either because I’m not that keen on flying and I look and act nervous. Or I just look absolutely shady as! Lol!
Anyway, the reason I’m going off on one is I took the resistance bands with me and of course my suitcase had to be opened up didn’t it?! The look on the staff member’s face at the airport was a picture! They didn’t know what they were and I had to explain and demonstrate what I use them for. I’m not sure what they thought I was doing with them - probably thought they were some sort of weapon to tie people up with! lol! Anyway you have been warned… Don’t let it put you off though!

So going back to Body Blitz - you can complete a full all over body workout with them. They provide many benefits; they strengthen the shoulders, back and core which in turn improves posture and stability.
They can be a little tricky to master at first but it’s worth persevering with them because you get rewarded very quickly by including them in your workouts.
The constant tension they provide means that you have to work extra hard and engage your core to maintain smooth control and form because you are constantly adapting to the changing resistance.
Resistance band workouts activate the major muscle groups - the ‘stabilizers’ the muscles that support and ‘stabilize’ your body. Therefore, core strength is efficiently built over time.
A lot of the band exercises are compound meaning that several muscle groups are working at the same time - so this is a win, win. Not only do you get a full body workout but you’re burning extra calories at the same time - even at rest!
What will I improve ?
By using resistance bands you will improve balance, core strength, create lean muscle mass, reduce body fat, the list goes on…
Muscles are under constant work as you have to guide the bands back to the starting position without letting them get slack or ping! So greater muscle stimulus is created.
Also, using your own body weight comes with lots of benefits too; you don’t need any equipment - the exercises can be done in most places. You are your own gym! You have no excuse not to work out!
Body weight exercises can combine both strength and cardio training and it’s challenging at any fitness level!
So both resistance bands and body weight exercises together make an awesome full body workout which teaches you the disciplines of working out either on your own, or with a friend or group. How to do exercises with no equipment and how effective and quick this training is!
I promise that through your consistent hard work you will feel and see the benefits and rewards of training this way. You will be so thankful you started. Maybe not in the actual class but afterwards!
