Damage limitation over Christmas…

  • Plan ahead - if you normally do an exercise class in the evening but you can’t it’s Christmas and they’re not on - plan ahead and fit in a workout at home in the morning or lunch time. This will keep you active, help to burn unwanted calories and then coming back to classes won’t be too much of a dread.

Try this little workout:

  • Jogging on the spot 60 secs

  • 20 Squats

  • Burpees 30 secs

  • High knees 60 secs

  • Star Jumps 30 secs

  • Low plank hold 30 secs try to increase to 60 secs

Repeat x4 or as many as you can to start with then build up to 4 or more.

  • Cut down on your other meals - If you know you’re going to be going a bit overboard on one of your meals say your Christmas dinner for example, then make sure your other meals are healthier and lighter. That way you won’t be consuming too many calories and the guilt won’t set in. You’ll enjoy the cheat meal more.

  • Plan your drinks - If you intend on consuming alcohol, make sure you have water in between each drink. That way you won’t be as dehydrated and you won’t consume as many. Also make sure your drinks aren’t full of sugar - choose healthier options.

  • Listen to your needs - Do you really want that extra pudding or do you just want the taste because in all honesty you’re full? Do you need more sleep? Listen to what your body is telling you and you will feel better for paying attention to it.

  • Give extra choccies/sweets etc away - Let’s be fair we all have way too many sweets and chocs given to us over this period - rather than keep cracking them open - give them away. Take them to either a supermarket who collects food parcels, nursing homes, or put them in your garage out of the way. If you can’t resist then try and squeeze in the suggested little workout and earn those calories - just don’t eat too many chocs though else you’ll be there all year doing the workout!! lol!

  • Finally - enjoy yourself. Don’t beat yourself up if you feel like you’ve fell off the wagon - just get back on the next day or when you are ready to and think of why you’re being so disciplined. Discover what you want - and go get it. It is so achievable, it just takes a different mindset prepared to change an old routine that is not currently working for you. In the long run you will feel more at peace with yourself if you go and achieve what it is you desire. Have a good one everyone!

MERRY FITMAS AND A HAPPY NEW REAR!
